Yuka is an existing application for smartphones that evaluates the quality and health of food and cosmetic brands. Scanning the barcode, Yuka will rate the product on a scale of 0-100 based on ingredients and the effect they have on the body. The app also gives recommendations for healthier alternatives for low scoring products.

Although Yuka addresses a critical need to encourage healthier eating, it is missing the crucial next steps in healthy dieting: cooking. According to research, 50% of Americans describe themselves as actively trying to eat healthy, yet 20% of Americans have no knowledge on cooking healthy foods.

That's where our idea comes in; we wish to provide recipe ideas with ingredients users already have in their kitchen. With barcode scans of items around the kitchen, AI will list delicious recipe recommendations! AI will also provide dietary restriction and allergy information for those with certain restrictions, as well as the caloric intake and health score information.
